The Order's Word

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 3, 2026

Outdare (“we”, “the Order”) turns the real world into an adventure. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Outdare is in early access (alpha), distributed directly to invited pathfinders — not yet through the public app stores.

What we collect

  • Beta requests. The name, email, chosen platform, optional message, and faction you submit on this site.
  • Account. Your email and display name, and the identifier from your sign-in method (email, Google, or Facebook), via Firebase Authentication.
  • Gameplay. Your pathfinder, quests, progress, wallet, and the photos you submit to verify a find.
  • Activity. Step counts (Apple Health / device motion) for walking, trekking and sprinting quests — used only to power gameplay, never for advertising.
  • Compass heading. Directional quests read which way your device is facing. On iOS that permission is worded as location because the heading comes from CoreLocation, but we never start location updates and no coordinates are collected or stored.
  • Notification token. If you allow notifications, we store the push token your device is issued by Apple or Google, along with the platform and language, so we can tell you when another pathfinder challenges you. It identifies a device, not you; it is deleted when you sign out, when the device stops accepting notifications, or with your account.
  • Diagnostics. Anonymous-by-default usage analytics and crash reports (Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics) to find bugs and improve the game. You can turn these off in the app's settings.

How we use it

To run the game and your account, send your invitation and other essential emails, keep the contest on the Ledger fair (anti-cheat), and improve Outdare through aggregate diagnostics. We do not sell your personal data.

Who helps us run it

We share data only with the services that operate Outdare, acting on our behalf: Google Firebase (authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting, and Cloud Messaging for notifications), Apple Push Notification service (delivery of notifications to iPhones), Google Cloud (photo verification of quest finds), Resend (transactional email), and Cloudflare (website and file hosting). Each processes data under its own terms and safeguards.

Your choices

  • Turn off analytics and crash reporting any time in the app's settings.
  • Turn notifications off in the app's settings — that stops both the ones we send and the reminders your device sets itself, and deletes your token.
  • Ask us to access or delete your data by writing to the address below.
  • Revoke a connected sign-in (Google/Facebook) from that provider's settings.

Retention & children

We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to run the game, then delete or anonymise it. Outdare is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes & contact

We'll update this page as Outdare grows and note the date above. Questions or requests: [email protected].

Walk well, pathfinder.
