The Roads Made Swift

By The Order of the Unseen Way

A pathfinder walks where the signal is thin — under trees, behind stone, far from the towers. Until now the app made them wait there: a spinner for the quest log, a spinner for the companions roll, a long silence while a photograph crawled skyward. This patch is about waiting less. Almost nothing new appears on the screen; almost everything arrives sooner.

New in this patch

  • Screens open at once. The Quest Log, the Realm, the Trading Post, your Satchel and the Ledger now show what you last saw the instant you open them, and refresh quietly behind it. On a weak signal the difference is the whole experience.
  • The companions roll no longer keeps you waiting. Your friends appear immediately; the unread marks and last words fill in behind them, instead of holding the whole list hostage until every conversation had been counted.
  • The quest-giver has the word ready. Your standing commission is fetched while you walk the dashboard, so stepping up to the giver is instant. It is the same commission you left on the table — declining still costs your one re-roll a day, exactly as before.
  • Photographs travel light. Your proof is now made small on your own device before it is sent — roughly a tenth of what it was. A submission that could take a full minute on a thin connection now takes seconds.
  • A dropped connection no longer costs you the photograph. If the shot never reaches the Order, you keep it, a Try again waits right there, and the thirty-second rest between photographs is not spent on a failure that was never ours to judge.
  • You can watch it go. A real progress bar while the photograph sends, and a way to call it back.
  • One knock at the door instead of six. Opening the app used to ask the Order half a dozen separate questions; now it asks once. Every dispatch the Order sends is also compressed on the way — six to ten times fewer bytes on the road.
  • No more nudge about your seal. We still send the letter of confirmation when you join. The app will not mention it again — confirming was never required to walk the Way, and now it does not pretend otherwise.

Beneath the surface

The Order’s couriers were rebuilt this week. What the app has already seen it now keeps close at hand and shows first, then reconciles with the Ledger quietly. A request that stumbles retries itself instead of surfacing an error. A session that outlives its token renews it in place rather than sending you back to the gate. And the quest-giver’s book is consulted a fraction as often as it was, so the whole realm answers faster — not only for you.

Android pathfinders: the app will offer the update itself. iPhone pathfinders will find the new build on TestFlight.

Walk well, pathfinder — the road is shorter than it was.
